Real Estate: Is it a good time to buy and/or sell your home?

There is a lot going on in the global and national economies right now. The question we get the most of recent is: “Should I buy/sell my home right now?”

We say yes for a variety of reasons. Let’s explore further.

What’s Happening in the Real Estate Market?

In the last two weeks:

  • The Fed dropped interest rates by .05%, down to 1.25%.
  • All three major U.S. stock market indexes lost over 10% of their value in what was the worst five-day trading session since 2008.
  • The bond market plummeted, with the 10-year Treasury bond’s yield dipping below 1% for the first time ever.
  • The Senate approved $8.3 billion in emergency funding for the coronavirus.

Basically, the residential real estate market is unchanged – low inventory but lots of  buyers ready to purchase.

Mortgage rates have been at historic lows this year – the perfect time for a buyer to get the most for their money!

Today, March 10th, 2020, there was an uptick in rates. They are still very low at 3.524% for a 30 year fixed and 3.074% for a 15 year fixed.

Locally, we anticipate the shortage of existing homes to continue. There simply aren’t enough for sale to keep up with the demand so it’s a Seller’s Market right now.
