Must-Haves for Your Next Home

What Must-Haves for your next home are on your list?

Not surprisingly, since most of the US has been under a stay-at-home order for weeks now, homeowners have been contemplating what features they want for their next home.

It’s been a learning experience for sure. When you spend more time in the same place, it’s not unusual to look for ways to make it more comfortable and workable for yourself and/or your family.

Realtor.com recently completed a survey with homeowners to find out what they are thinking, now that they have spent weeks in their homes. Their findings make sense. It won’t surprise us if today’s home buyers are re-prioritizing their list when it comes to their next home must-haves!

What’s at the Top of the Must-Haves List?

SPACE! The first two items on the list have to do with space. Are you surprised?

15.7% want more overall space in their homes. Yeah, we can see that! After confinement in tight quarters for weeks, everyone would love a bit more space to call their own!

13.6% want more outdoor space. The outdoors can be an extension of living space, when the central Indiana weather allows! Just a change of scenery to relax and recharge among nature is an awesome benefit.

13.3% want an updated kitchen. With more meals being cooked at home in the last few weeks, it’s understandable that the kitchen would come under scrutiny!

12.5% want better technology. Whether it’s faster Wifi, or Smart Home items like USB outlets, video doorbells, security systems, automated lights, music or whatever, homeowners are thinking they’d like these items in their next home.

What else was on the List of Must-Haves?

There were some items on the list that all of us would probably like!

  • More separation inside the house (rooms with doors)
  • Better insulation for less outside noise leaking in
  • More bathrooms (and toilet paper!)
  • Separation from the neighbors when outdoors

Another segment of the respondents said they had already started

home improvement projects. Thirty-two percent have taken matters into their own hands and planned and begun some projects to make their home fit their lifestyle better.

Final Thoughts

The bottom line is, people are already looking for larger homes

, separation from neighbors and bigger yards!

The Central Indiana Real Estate Market hasn’t slowed down! Homes are still coming on the market and, when priced right for their co

ndition, even multiple offers sometimes!

Our buyers and sellers are benefiting from the current status of the market.

Seller’s are getting their equity out of their homes and putting it into the kind of home they really want! And, with interest rates low, a buyer’s dollar can go farther right now!
