Neutral = Sale

Whether hearing it on HGTV or from a local REALTOR, almost everyone has heard that when you want to sell your home, you should paint rooms in a neutral color. It’s good advice gleaned from years of working with buyers.

Sellers, however, sometimes have a hard time believing a little paint can be a deterrent to buyers. It. Can.

We’ve seen it time and again. The main reason a buyer doesn’t put an offer in on a home they otherwise love is due to the paint colors they just can’t get past.

Buyers + Neutral = Sale

Buyers look at it like a lot of hassle that is going to cost them time and money. The whole moving process is hard and to add painting to the list is just too much for most buyers.

Paint colors are very personal and go along with your decor style. Everyone is different. A buyer would rather see a neutral white, gray or beige when looking at homes to purchase. It’s much easier for them to wrap their head around changing it to their style or color. Possibilities seem endless to them with these colors as opposed to other bright or dark colors.

They can actually live with the neutral color until they decide if/when to put their own stamp on the walls!

Another Benefit of Neutral Room Paint Colors

A light, neutral backdrop lets the room show as more open, airy and spacious. The items in the room pop when they aren’t fighting a wall color.

With the backdrop light, a buyer is transported to that place where they mentally start decorating the room to their own taste. They figure out where they would place their furniture, what they would hang on the walls and where. That’s what you want to get to! If they start arranging furniture, they are falling in love and are more likely to make an offer.

And, that’s the goal, right? Why not make it easier to get those offers?
