National Homeownership Month
June is National Homeownership Month, and we want to tell you why homeownership is an important and exciting part of all of our lives! Owning a home can bring many unexpected benefits aspects into your life.
Because you own a home, you are now a part of a neighborhood or local community:
Being a part of a community is great for your mental and physical health. A community can also be a big part of staying safe, as neighborhoods often have plans and procedures to keep everybody safe.
Owning a home can also let you be yourself:
Homeownership allows you to bring your personality into your living space. Since you own the property, you are allowed to decorate it how you want. A home is a reflection of its owner.
Strengthening your credit score:
Because you bought your home, you will be making payments on it over the course of years. Making these payments on time will build your credit score and help you be able to become more secure in financial situations. This could allow you to have better homeowner insurance rates as well as better rates on cars.
Lower rates of crimes within neighborhoods:
Neighborhoods with a higher percentage of homeowners have lower rates of voluntary crime as well as lower rates of property crime.
