Summer to Fall Decorating at Home!

It’s almost time to move from Summer to Fall Decorating! It’s hard to say goodbye to the sun drenched days and warm summer evenings, but Autumn is a fantastic time of year with great opportunities for decorating and embracing the season.

These are 4 ideas – simple and easy – to welcome the Fall into our homes without breaking the bank!

#1 Summer to Fall Decorating Outdoors

Autumn is a welcoming time of year. It marks the beginning of the “homecoming” season for the holidays that are just around the corner!

Decorating your front door with a fall wreath is a great way to set the tone right away. Traditional fall colors include rich reds, oranges, yellows and browns. The colors of the falling leaves can bring a bit of that vibrancy to the porch area.

Switch out the annuals for more fall-ish flowers. Fall foliage in gorgeous urns or pots flanking the front entrance or along the front porch is another simple, easy and cost effective way to bring in fall.

Some great fall plants/flowers include:

• Mums
• Black-Eyed Susans
• Flowering Kale (sometimes called flowering cabbage)
• Sweet Alyssum (great fragrance and can spill out of containers)
• Pumpkins and Gourds

Don’t forget the backyard patio or deck! Fall is full of cozy evenings around the firepit with family and friends. Add some throw pillows to the patio furniture in a fun fall patter with golds, oranges and reds! Sprinkle in a few more fall flowers/plants and you are ready to host that first marshmallow roast over the firepit!

#2 For the Kitchen

Create a centerpiece for your table, breakfast bar or countertop. Use a fun container and add fall-ish items that remind you of autumn. Visit a craft store and you’ll find loads of items to choose from for containers and accents!

#3 Living Area Fall Decorating

It’s easy to jazz up the living rooms and family rooms for fall! Add some candles sprinkled around the rooms. The scents and pop of color will remind people of fall.

Find a nice sized basket and fill with soft, comfy throw blankets that beckon to guests and family for a snuggle!

Even consider changing out accent rugs to bring in the fall color scheme to complement your furniture.

#4 Soaps and Lotions for Fall

In addition to candles with fall scents, don’t forget soaps and lotions!

Places like Amazon and Bath and Body Works have a ton of choices to reflect seasonal scents you, your family and friends can enjoy!

Not afraid to admit it… a few weeks ago, we went all out at Bath and Body Works for candles, soaps and lotions. They all smelled so nice and had us wishing for the fall season!

Check them out and add some to the bathrooms and kitchen sinks. Even the packaging adds an autumn touch!
